Furnishings & Design Istanbul (FDI) – New Horizon Exhibiton

1. ABOUT THE EVENT AND EXHIBITION:

Furnishings & Design Istanbul (FDI) is a design event organized to put design at the heart of furniture and its surrounding industries. The event, which will be held on 19-21 September at Istanbul Expo Center Hall 9 on an area of 5 thousand square meters, is organized with the support of the Federation of Furniture Associations (MOSFED), one of Turkey’s leading professional non-governmental organizations.

New Horizon Exhibition is a special exhibition created by FDI to support designers. This exhibition offers exhibitors the opportunity to make a difference in the industry by presenting their innovative and creative designs.

New Horizon Exhibition is organized to support the professional journey of designers and unlock their creative potential. This exhibition provides a unique platform to explore and promote innovative ideas in the industry. 

1. PURPOSE OF THE EXHIBITION:

• Developing Innovative and Sustainable Designs: To develop innovative, powerful, manufacturable, feasible, rational, original, aesthetic, functional, high quality, high added value, user safety and environmentally friendly designs that are suitable for the needs of the future.
• Increasing Design and Export Potential in Turkey: To increase the export potential and competitiveness in the international market by increasing the strength of the design and furniture sector in Turkey, especially in Istanbul.
• Promoting Turkish Design at the Global Level: To promote Turkish design at a global level by showcasing Turkey’s design capability and potential.
• Contributing to Industrial Development: To contribute to the development of the sector and the national economy with design-oriented products.
• Bringing New Designers into the Ecosystem: Introducing new and dynamic talents to the design world.
• Increasing Cooperation and Solidarity in the Sector: Encouraging motivation, cooperation and solidarity in the sector.
• Creating Products with High Added Value: To bring innovative, high value-added and innovative products to the sector.
• APPLICATION CONDITIONS
• Turkish Republic and TRNC Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
• Age Limit: Participants must be over 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit.
• Design Property: Participants should participate in the exhibition with their own original and innovative designs. If the application is to be made for products or conceptual designs designed as a group, the application can be made as a team or the designer can apply with the permission of the other team members. Originality is essential for all projects.
• Application Format: All commercialized or non-commercialized designs are accepted for participation. Submissions can be in the form of detailed drawings (sketches), prototypes, finished products or 3D designs. However, the selection committee will prioritize prototypes and finished products in exhibition decisions.
• File Format: The application file should be prepared in PDF format and should not exceed 50 MB. Designs and texts should be clear and readable.
• File Upload: At the application stage, all documents must be uploaded to the system in PDF format. The application file must be submitted in accordance with the requirements requested in the Online Application section in the “New Horizon Exhibition” tab on the website of the open call.
• Confirmation of Approval: Each designer who uploads his/her work will see the confirmation confirmation stating that he/she has completed his/her application correctly and completely on the screen with the e-mail sent to him/her by the system.
• Application Deadline: Applications must be completed by August 4th at the latest.

1. Participation with more than one product/Design: One person can participate with different designs. The evaluation committee will score each project and the project/design with the highest score will be exhibited.

1. EVALUATION COMMITTEE: The projects to be exhibited at the New Horizon Exhibition will be reviewed by an evaluation committee consisting of experts and respected names in the field. The names on the committee are:

1. PARTICIPANT OBLIGATIONS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS:

• Originality and Intellectual Property: Designs participating in the exhibition must be original. Designs found to be copies will be disqualified and the responsibility belongs to the designer. In case third parties claim rights on the designs, all legal responsibility belongs to the designer. Intellectual property rights must belong solely to the designer, or if the right has been transferred, permission must be obtained from the transferor to be exhibited.
• Declaration and Commitment: Participants declare and undertake that they act in accordance with the specifications and that the designs belong to them.
• Exhibition and Use Rights: MOSFED and MOS Fuarcılık have the right to publish, archive and exhibit the designs participating in the exhibition in Turkey and abroad. MOSFED and MOS Fuarcılık may use the designs in promotional materials, printed and digital publications. Participants make their applications by accepting these conditions and cannot demand an additional fee for these uses.
