After graduating in 1988 from Middle East Technical University, Department of Industrial Design, she completed her master’s degree in interior architecture at Pratt Institute of Technology in New York in 1992. In 1996, she founded Artful Interior Architecture office with her husband, interior architect Oğuz Yalım. In 2005, she established the industrial design branch of the team under the name of Ece Yalım Design Studio and started to realize projects where interior architecture and product design branches feed each other with her team. The Artful team has won many effective design awards recognized worldwide with their innovative, visionary and human-oriented product designs for contemporary spaces with their own universal perspective by carrying forward the design manifestos of leading companies in their sectors such as Nurus, Ersa, Koleksiyon, Bürotime, Kale Bathroom, Arlight, Heper + Moonlight, İkizler Lighting, Paşabahçe Stores. In addition to his professional life, Yalım served as Vice President of ETMK between 2008-2010. Since 2004, he has been working as a part-time instructor in the design studio team at METU Department of Industrial Design, conducting the course on “Color in Industrial Design” and organizing color workshops with the methodology he developed in design-oriented events. Since 2022, she has been working at TED University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, both as part of the studio team and teaching the course on “Color in Interior Architecture”.
