Born in 1953 in Kayseri, A.Raşit Karaslan graduated from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1975 as “Interior Architect, Industrial Designer”. In 1983, he founded the MOBİ brand in Bursa to produce original designed furniture. In 1989, with the invitation of the Dutch state organization CBI, MOBİ exhibited Raşit Karaaslan’s designs at its stand in the “Int’l Utrecht Furniture Fair” as the selected brand from Turkey. In 1994, MOBİ became the only brand from Turkey to participate in the “IMM Cologne MöbelMesse” and continued to participate in the fair until 2008. Since 2015, he has been exhibiting his designs at the MOBİ stand in “Salone del Mobile Milano” every year. Karaaslan’s self-designed, high value-added furniture is exported to various countries around the world, especially to the USA, and exports account for 75% of the turnover of the companies he manages. Karaaslan, who has been deemed worthy of awards in nearly ten prestigious organizations such as IF, Designpreis Deutschland, Int’l Design & Architecture Awards London, also assumes various duties in the boards of directors of NGOs in the furniture sector and as a jury in furniture design competitions across the country.
